De-cluttering...........

Day 4 of Felicity's Challenge.
As I have said before we have been in our house twenty years! When you move as you leave the old house you throw a lot of things away - don't you? Well I did, but you wouldn't think so the amount of clutter that has been collected. inherited, or the boys haven't taken with them when they moved out over the last twenty years has quadrupled! It doesn't help with my hobbies, needlework, patchwork, knitting and crochet, and of course the fact that I work in a craft shop! Yes I am guilty too! But, Alex' hobby is much bigger, but it could be worse motorbikes/cars etc, and it is as bad, he collects and restores vintage valve radios! We bought the house because it had a well I won't say conservatory, but a well lit sunny lean-to, I thought oh goodie I can grow plants and sit in here when it isn't too hot.............WRONG! From day one it was filled with boxes, of junk, rubbish and if we didn't want it in the house and couldn't be bothered taking it to the shed or charity shop or the recycling centre there it sat until the sun either faded it or rotted it! Well I have now decided enough is enough it is my turn to have the conservatory-cum-lean-to! So..................
...........yesterday after cutting the grass and after watching the local weather forecast, of which was said it would be nice for a while, and as it has rained for the last three summers, it was time to christen the new garden awning which was bought three summers ago and hasn't been out of its box since!
This afternoon, I half emptied the conservatory-cum-lean-to into it. Alex always claimed most of it was mine.........mmmmmmmmm!

I don't think so....................................! Lets hope I can get it sorted before the weather changes! And also have space to dry the washing in the winter and grow seeds in the spring..................
Sometimes I get Alex to read the blog before publishing, he asked if he had the right to reply.........this is what he put!
(I must sneek in a little observation about selective photography here, just to the right of the second photo and to the left of the bottom one are six large plastic tubs full of this that and the other belonging to you know who!!!) Alex.

  2. We have so much in common!I was so looking forward to sitting in my conservatory when we moved here 13 years ago. Apart from the fact that it is rotting around us and far too hot to ever sit in - it is now a junk room!!! I am sick of the sight of all the boxes covered in blankets and am on a mission to get it sorted before the end of summer!!! x

  3. Blimey that's a lot of stuff!!!! I'm really bad too. We moved from a tiny flat to a 3 bed house 4 years ago, the house is now full & there's only 2 of us!!! It will be lovely to have the sun room back, hope it doesn't get full again....my favourite trick!! :) x

  4. A serious amount of stuff, but it can be done, and you will do it. Be strong and be ruthless. Wish I could come and give you a hand. Maybe you will unearth some treasures too. Oh and don't forget to reward yourself when it's done.

  5. Oh gosh I am glad that its not just me! WHen we moved here you would not believe all the stuff we had to get rid of, and I still feel as though I am drowning in it all! Of course like you, George says it is all mine too! But I do have 3 knitting machines (which I don't use!) and crafting bits, art stuff, the list goes on and on! I feel a bit overwhelmed! It will be lovely when you get it sorted and get that sun room back! Then you can come here if you like and tame my monster of a mess! :) Suzie xxx

  7. That looks like a lot of hard work! I had a good sort out of my room when I got back from uni - 3 bags of rubbish and 2 bags for the charity shops!! Although half my stuff is still in my room at uni, so yet more to clear out! Good luck!

  8. Love it! I am so glad it's not only us that colects so much stuff! We moved only 18 moths ago and yet we seem to have managed to fill the garage which I had unrealistically hoped we might use for the car!! Good luck with the clear out.
