I'm just one big complaint!

Yesterday I was going to do some gardening but the weather was against me so instead I thought I would iron. Not a job I relish, but the ironing was not going to iron itself so I set up the ironing board put the washing next to it and reached for the Radio Times. Watching a film whilst ironing you don't notice the job in hand. Easter Sunday, a bank holiday I thought, a few films to watch? Well I thought wrong! Yes there were films on "In Which We Serve" 1942. This film although very interesting and a great classic is over sixty years old. "Columbo - Ransom for the Dead" 1971, "The Slipper and the Rose" 1976 and "The Wizard of Oz" 1939 another classic film of its time is nearly seventy years old! Sport on for the rest of the day. Hmmm.........not much of a choice. We don't all have Sky or Digital. Some of us do not like sport, or believe it or not Eastenders, Coronation Street or Emmerdale, so the off knob stayed off till "Larkrise to Candleford" in my opinion the best programme on any television at the moment. Easter Monday is not much better. When I was a child the highlight of the Easter weekend was the little half an hour programme called "Disney Time" which I was allowed to watch whatever the weather if I was good. Surely the television schedulers can do better. All the programming for Easter Monday is what is shown every other day on day time television!

Easter day falls between 21st March and 25th April, the date depending on the first full moon of spring. It is calculated at the first Sunday after the full moon on or after the 21st March, but is the full moon falls on a Sunday, then Easter in the following Sunday.

Meet Wilson

He walked into my dads house and stayed!

He should really live down the road from dad but his owners bought a puppy - well he decided enough was enough.

When Wilson goes for a walk, he walks up to the road to one house before his owners house

crosses the road and walks to one house past then crosses back over, and repeats the journey on the way back to dads.

Wilson is a Polydactyl cat. He has six claws on each of his four paws!

Mothering Sunday

In medieval times people visited the 'mother' church the Cathedral.

On Mothering Sunday it was a practice to visit your mother and give her gifts of flowers usually Violets or Primroses and cake traditionally a Simnel Cake decorated with crystallised flowers. (if this cake is eaten at Easter it is decorated with eleven marzipan balls to represent the apostles - Judas not being included).

People who worked in service i.e live-in servants were given the day off.

Now I know why I had three sons - it gives me a sporting chance of getting at least one Mothers day card!

Look what I saw today!

I was looking for a picture on the blustery first day of March and this Bumble Bee was basking in the early spring sunshine on the shed door. I took the picture and then the Bumble Bee buzzed away. Don't think he/she liked the flash of the camera very much!
