S is for.....................

SEAGULLS

We have urban seagulls.
This morning I was woken by the squawking of seagulls instead of the dawn chorus!
This is my garden, the seagulls are munching on lunch put out for the garden birds.

They even sit on the bird feeder

I have been making things from seagull, they can be found here.........

My Email has gone down...........

SORRY to who needs emails answering.  We use Talktalk and receive through Outlook express, they have had an argument and talktalk are trying get them to make friends again.  They have been trying since Tuesday afternoon!   Anyway sorry I cannot remember your name, but you had some vintage magazine, yes please I am interested

This darling little birdie has been singing outside my bedroom window since 2.30 this morning!  (I know it was then, I went to the loo then)  Won't tell you what I said at 6.30am!  It wasn't very ladylike!!!

My Laburnum tree is in bloom it is so pretty with its acid yellow flowers.

It said on the seed packet sow before 2008.  I just opened the packet and sprinkled thinly a few days back, I have to wait and see, it was a mixed packet of seeds
Seagull lunch party!
I broke up some stale bread and put it in the bird tray, Fatso the Wood Pigeon (our name for the pigeon) sat on the tray and chucked every single piece out, along came the seagulls and eat every scrap.........

Another Moan!

I am NOT a happy Bunny!

I don't mind the pigeons and I don't even mind squirrels eating the food I put out the the birds, we have all got to eat, but having seagulls sitting on the bird feeder tray just takes the biscuit, literally!  The sole reason of buying the bird feeder in the first place was to try and discourage the seagulls.  I like them in their place at the beach, and they do have characters of their own but really.................

NO! - Todays grievance

We seem to have the distant cousin of the kangaroo invading our house!  Well, we are not sure what it is, it could be a mouse, or it could be a rat we are just not sure, but think this one must be wearing a nappy! Mice and rats tend to leave a trail of poo but there is no evidence of droppings and we are not sure where it is coming in from either, but we know we have a visitor because of the chewed up silver paper in a corner of the room. First, we put chocolate down which disappeared by the next day, so out came the poison. Just as well our eccentric friend didn't see this or we would have had a lecture on cruelty on wildlife, and yes we like wildlife in their own habitat not OURS!

I have an old pair of shoes that I use to trek up the garden or to go for muddy walks in, and this time of year I keep them under the radiator just to keep the chill off. It was just as well I picked them up first, because over-night our visitor had decided to spew-up the second lot of rat poison in one of them.  The first night all the poison had gone, but the second night only half had gone!

We met Ben!

Helen invited us to lunch.   We were a bit late caused by various hold-ups on the road but we eventually arrived and greeted by wonderful Helen and the biggest, softest, gentlest, giant blackest  most beautiful dog.  Ben if you know Helen's blog is often featured.  The weather was a bit hot for him so he just lazed on the cool ground while we chatted.

We had a choice of two wonderful Quiches of smoke salmon, and broccoli and cheese and lots lovely salads followed by Eaton Mess

Occasionally Ben joined the conversation

Afternoon tea before we left

Helen's apple tree has not only a few apples but has blossom too!

I saw the items which will be seen in the next Bustle and Sew magazine - they look wonderful.
And before I left Helen gave me this embroidered cover to add to my collection.  I thought there were only Radio Times ones, but I have knitting one and now this one for blotting paper.

Last Sunday took another trip to Lacock (19 August) where they had 1940's Lacock.

This was inside the caravan

This lady was kind enough to let me take a photograph of her and her car.
My dad in the early sixties had the next version of this car a Baby Austin

"E" for effort!

I'm am bad blogger at the moment, what with flu, craft fair and everything else something had to go! I am so behind with everything, I haven't even made my Christmas cake yet! Not happy about that........

I would like to say a big thank you for all the lovely comments on my previous post, I have to say I actually didn't sell anything, well I say I didn't sell anything, three cards, a scissor keeper and a knitted brooch so everything is here now, please feel free to take a look. The only thing that isn't there is the green Christmas sack, but if anyone is interested in that I can make another but with red lining. Father Christmas now has the sack for Caitlin's pressies - shhhhh!

Yesterday morning I had a lovely chat with my friend Jackie. A few months ago I mentioned in an email to her that I had heard the cows but in the many visits to her farm never actually seen them! So yesterday morning I had a tour of the farm!

The calves - not sure how old they are

Bull Calf - he has a name but cannot remember it
but I'm sure Jackie will read this blog and
answer all the things I have forgotten!
