Ugh that's horrid! Have you tried putting coffee grounds around your plants? Slugs and snails don't like them apparently. We have a hosta which is a very favourite plant for snails and slugs to attack and this year we tried the coffee ground trick and I have to say that it's worked - the hosta has had a relatively good year!

It must be the West country air... and good old manure... I saw the biggest caterpillar I've ever seen last night... It was at least 4 inches long and very fat!! Love the tea cosy covers... what a lovely idea. xxx
