Golden Daffodils

I'm off for coffee with my friend Ginny this morning (she doesn't use social media).  I crafted these daffodils for her birthday which is immediately after Christmas.

Hope she like them - I'm sure she will!

Not much to say at moment..............

Does anyone else get like this?  Go for days and not have much to say, or has a lot to say and the words do not flow properly.....................  Well I'm having a phase just like that at the moment.  I will be back because we went to Dingles the fairground museum the other day and have lots of photos to show.

In the meantime I will show the lovely little bunch of flowers my friend Jane gave me last night.
Thank you Jane

It comes to something......................

................when you're caught chatting to a Robin whilst keeping the weeds at bay .  We had a lovely chat!  Didn't do much weeding only about ten minutes was all I could muster (read previous post).  You be surprised how much the neck is used in any movement!
I do know when to stop, but if I don't make myself do something I will be come quite lazy!  Whilst my neck was really bad I was watching re-runs of Lovejoy and Bergerac, even that can become boring!

My stiff neck............

I just had to show these pretty Gladioli at 'past their sell by date' in Morrisons for 85p!  They are such a pretty lavender colour, the photo doesn't do them justice.

I still have my stiff neck but now we are into week two of it easing.  I am not a patient patient to say the least!

It all started whilst we were on holiday, one morning I was sitting in the car and slowly I could feel my neck stiffening, I didn't think anything of it because I have often had stiff necks and it has cleared within a few days.  By the time we returned home I wasn't sleeping normally.  My sleeping position was sitting upright,  After a week of that, I went off to the doctors.  I had Torticolis. The muscles in the neck hook themselves onto the spine. (The way to describe - the spine is a series of 'Y' stacked on top of one another, and the muscles hooked themselves on the bits that stick out at the top).

The first week I was prescribed paracetamols, anything stronger can affect the stomach lining. I went back the second week and she prescribed Volterol, (industrial strength) but after a few days I had to stop using it because it was causing a rash on the back of my neck. In the meantime I got in touch with a really good friend who is a Osteomyologist. She agreed to call in to see me on the way to seeing her grandchildren. What she does is like physiotherapy and but far gentler. As soon as she worked her magic I could feel a big difference.

Now it feels like a bad sprain in the back of my neck. I am now sleeping normally but still find it difficult to turn naturally in bed, so sometimes I have to physically get up and re-position myself, but at least now I don't lay down and worry thinking I cannot get back up again, although sometimes it feels like that, but then as I just said I am not a patient patient! I am sleeping better but not getting a good nights sleep but am sure it will come eventually.

Just a blog post..........

Well hope everyone had a good Easter, and I would like to say hello to my new followers.
We didn't do much over Easter, just went to see the grandchildren (see previous post).  That was an absolutely lovely day.  We love going to see them.  Saturday we were going to do a boot fair, but all of a sudden the weather was
against it turned quite cold and we didn't fancy standing in a field freezing, so we abandoned the idea.  It turned out to have been quite a fruitful afternoon and we missed it!  The first bootfair of the season and apparently every space was taken in the field and they opened another field too.  The buyers were queuing quite a while to get in too.

But............

green bakelite sock darner bought for 50p

...........they had another one yesterday, but this time only a quarter of the field was taken up, and there was more buyers than sellers.  I am actually trying to wean myself off of boot fairs too much stuff needs to go!  I have actually stopped going into charity shops now but Alex wanted to go so we went and I picked up a green bakelite sock darner.  The top unskrews for you to keep needles and darning wool inside.  I already have my mums one which is brown and also unskrews.

The last of my birthday flowers.  The two little vases are from here

and my 50p flowers from yesterday from Morrisons!

Just a chat.............

Its very foggy this morning, I walked round the garden to see if I could find a cobweb with it diamonds glittering.  The only time cobwebs can really be seen are on days like this with the dew hanging from its threads.  I find them fascinating.

The Primroses are in full blooms, they look so pretty in their bright yellow petals.

Do you remember this

There are four buds

I also revamped rewrote which is what I should have done in the first place my last post.  I have to admit I was in a bit of a hurry that day.  I should have taken my time and done it properly the next day!

Go here there is a beautiful give-away

Advent Calendar - door 19 ...........and breath..........!

19 December

Today is the first day I can sort of relax, I have yet to marzipan and ice a cake as part of a present for our lovely friends David and Jane, who we are seeing tomorrow evening, so Santa's helpers can take their present round.  We are going to have a fish and chip supper with them too.  Fish and Chips and Christmas cake............wonderful combination! They don't blog but I know this one gets read!

Last Saturday was Dee Dee's Vintage Fair at Trull, Somerset.  Alex took a couple of record players, a radio and some eighties hand-held games.  He sold the record within two seconds of putting said record onto the table.  I sold the Beehive knitting wool holder after the fair.  Right up to when we left for the fair about 7.30 am I was still knitting a doll's shoe.   We came home unpacked the car ready to go straight to my dads the following day.  We had a lovely Christmas lunch with him.  This week is not fairing much better in being busy.

My friend Helen asked me if I would help her.  She had an enquiry about having these made.  Two days later they are off to their new home.  The pattern was very easy to understand and they actually didn't take very long at all.  The pattern can be found in this e-magazine.  The magazine is publish monthly, and is very interesting.

This is what happens when you don't put your glasses on to read cooking instructions!  Morrison's has some brussel sprouts for cooking in the bag 9p!  I mis-read the instructions, my fault should have put my glasses on.  Microwaved them for too long and voila - Brussel Sprout MUSH!  Didn't know you could burn things in the microwave.  I cooked them for 10minutes instead of five minutes.

My First Post From the New Computer

Not only a post here I have done a post here too........

Clever husband went on one of those forums, and a kind person helped us out with one specific problem, and after we 'liked' and thanked him a few days later he emailed again giving us a few more tips and guess what we have a computer now that looks very much like XP but is actually Windows 8.1.  I'm happy!

Well I was till one very chilly morning at the beginning of the week I found my new 100% wool gloves had been attacked by a moth!  The way they were put away, the moth nibbled through most of the fingers.

Does anyone have a natural remedy for keeping moths at bay?

Then I went to Tesco this morning to replace the brandy I had finished after about four years and to be ready for next years Christmas cake.  Everyday Value brandy just for cooking with, not only was quite expensive but, it now comes in a plastic bottle!!

Don't forget its the start of Advent tomorrow, not to late to join in.....

Finding....... Don't Remember and Forgotten!

One thing about clearing stuff out - throwing it away, giving things away to charity shops or free-cycle, putting to one side for boot-fairs or vintage fairs, you find things that you just don't remember doing or have completely forgotten about!

I don't remember stitching this, well....... perhaps vaguely I do.  I do know it is my own work because the alphabet and numbers are ones I use on all samplers designed by me.  I must have thought I will give other stitches ago as there are a variety of designs and cut-work in this sampler.  Think I might just wash it and get it framed as a treat for me.

A close-up of the work, (click on pictures) to get a closer look.  The coin is a five pence piece so you can see the size of the stitches.  I think I am quite proud of this piece of work as I am of the following piece.

Stitched by me when I was about eight years old.  I bought the fabric myself with my pocket money from Harrods of Knightsbridge on a day trip to London with my mum.  We lived  a train ride away so it was regular trips to museums and shops at least twice month.

I think I was going to just fill it in with owls and flowers!  The patterns for the owls and flowers were from knitting patterns because that is all I had to follow otherwise it would have just been basic patterns.  I think perhaps it should have been basic patterns but I seem to have ambitious adventurous tendencies.  The more complicated I am at my happiest!

Well that's September!

Does anyone know what happened to September?  I haven't been round blogland much.  I haven't really been making - in fact I really haven't done much.  I have sorted loads of old magazines some pre-dating the year 2000.  They were all cross-stitch magazines, I put about twenty bags of magazines and another load with hardback cross-stitching books on our local freecycle.  They were snapped up, I think because the people collecting them thought they were getting a bargain!  Well they were, but you cannot sell cross-stitch books at the local bootfair for even 20p here so I decided just to give them away!  They have gone and I feel better for it - it is amazing how I felt so much better for getting rid of things - it did actually feel like a weight had lifted - so more stuff is going to go!

Now I wonder................ no I best not if I want to stay happily married!  They are the collection of 78 rpm records, there is even two piles behind the Iceland carrier, In the Iceland carrier are the Christmas 78 rpm.  I cleared out the cupboard where I kept the magazines, guess where these have gone......!   Nothing stays empty for long in this house!

It was wet, dull and dismal yesterday, so yesterday afternoon I made Peggoty.  She is a dolly-peg (clothes spin)  Dressed in white, with a light green shawl.  She will be put in my shop soon, when I have finished a sister or two.

I made pie.

Apple and Blackberry.
We still have Blackberries at the bottom of the garden

I am still stitching

Still knitting

Mr Robin has been sitting on  the tree branch singing for a mate - nice to see him back in the garden.

My weekend away was cancelled!

We were meant to have been staying with my dad and then going to Tavistock and also to Buckfastleigh, but our weekend was cancelled!  And to top it all off I had to do a hot wash, and when I took the washing out of the washing machine I found my best cardigan, shrunken!  I don't know what upset me the most the weekend being cancelled or my cardigan shrinking.......  We'll hopefully wait another year to go.  Should have gone last year but it rained, so perhaps we aren't meant to go at all.  They say things happen for a reason...........so what was the reason.........?  I made flowers instead they can be seen here.................

Drawing a line and starting over.........

me drawing a line
I have drawn a line under the last two blog post and I am starting again!  I'm not starting a new blog or anything just a new page.

Today I have been working on our family tree.  It is a maze just like the ones you follow with a finger or pencil, or the ones to walk around, you turn a corner and it is a dead end, you have turn right around  and go the other way.
sourced from the internet
But we are getting there slowly.  They say if you have someone famous in your family that is good.  My husband has!  He was a Bare-Knuckle Prize Fighter in Norfolk, but cannot find whereabouts he goes in this maze/jigsaw family tree.  If any lovely readers live in or come from Norfolk and you heard of him please tell us?  Thank you in anticipation

Thank you so much.......I Do Craft!

I have gone the same colour of this rose all pink and white.  Pink with embarrassment caused by the lovely comments which were left for me.  I would like to thank each and everyone of you who sent me these wonderful comments on this post.   Because I got it off my chest, I now chant 'I Do Craft', to try and drown out the other words.

I made this, just to prove to myself I Do Craft..........

Go here to see it in its full glory!

YES I DO CRAFT!
