Birthday and Balloons

What was nana thinking giving me clothes........?

It was our grand-daughter's fifth birthday yesterday, but other arrangements for both her and us had been made so went the week before.
She carefully unpacked al her goodies from the Peppa Pig bag carefully avoiding two dresses which were put on the top of the goodies.

This weekend Alex and I went to stay with our eldest son and daughter-in-law in Bristol.
I have always wanted to see the balloons, not necessarily go to see the take off but just to see them fly, but because they are weather dependent it is actually fifty-fifty whether you get to see them.  But Saturday morning we saw them in the distant, so hurriedly dressing and getting the car at 6.30 am Michael drove us to a vantage point to see the balloons ascending over Bristol, we thought we may go back to see them in the evening but the weather had other ideas!

Moon tonight

It went very dark, then we had hail, then it brightened up a bit, and then I looked out of the window and saw a clear sky and the moon

This week

Wednesday

The Red Arrows came to town!
It was a really hot afternoon. The weather was dull Monday
and it rained on Tuesday so wasn't sure if we were going to see them but we did.
The display was spectacular as always.
There were lots of different stalls to see but only one craft stall.
FRIDAY

The sky over our house about 9pm on Friday evening
Saturday
I have a few pegs on my washing line that are left out all year round.
I moved one of the pegs and this white spider fell out!
Two snails doing a trapeze act in the rain on Saturday morning

I entered the local Flower and produce show with five items
Photograph, this Flower Display
Lavender, Rosemary, Mint, Thyme, Bay
Five Varieties of Herbs

Caitlins new jumper and some Lemon Curd
I only came second with the jumper
Its the first time I have entered in about seven years!

Everything is back to normal!

The second weekend in January and everything is back to normal! The usual Tesco trip was done yesterday. No getting away from it we have to eat! We woke up this morning to this pinkish sky!

Today I was going to prune the shrubs but decided it was actually too early in the year to start doing that, I'll leave it for a couple of weeks and hope the rain doesn't stop me before the buds start shooting! I don't gently prune I destroy! I take the shrubs down to ground level and then hope they grow again...............they usually do!
This evening after late lunch, early dinner we watched this.................

I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it after all the hipe! But I actually put my glasses on and enjoyed every possible moment of it. I would normally knit, crochet or even sew whilst watching a film so I didn't drop off to sleep but this film lived up to all the hipe, it was very very good, excellent in fact!

The sky over Hankridge - Taunton this afternoon about 2pm

Today we thought we would go and see the film "Indiana Jones"! Well that as the intention! We arrived at the cinema to find the doors locked, and saw that the time of the film was 4.30pm, the time we arrived at the cinema was just after mid-day! We took ourselves off for lunch at Pizza Hut and we also looked in the five stores over at Hankridge, then decided to go to Sainsburys for another cup of tea and decided we would go an see another film as we there "Hancock" with Will Smith. Although I like action movies, this film had quite a bit of action, a bit of violence (didn't like that but I suppose it was integral to the film) and was very loud because this particular cinema was one of the very small ones in the complex!
