In the days before plastic surgery............circa 16 July 1937!

In the days when it seems it was ok to really hurt peoples feelings by making them feel inadequate in the "womanly figure" department! Amazing really, were women really "pitied by women and ignored by men" if they were less than well endowed. Most intriguing though is what was the "something" that they would send you?  As they used to say "answers on a postcard......."

  3. woman always seem to get the raw deals in life- made to feel they have to fit in to some kind of weird norm - when actually loving what you have got is better than trying to change it...I remember Pamela Anderson being big in the 90's, big busts and blonde hair making me feel as a teenager i had to have these things to be pretty- i felt that too and dyed my brunette hair bottle blonde!!...realised in my university years the natural me was so much prettier. Im shocked how many young girls on tv have boob jobs, nose jobs and face enhancers to feel they fit in...its quite shocking that actually your not aloud to grow old gracefully!
Bring on the lines i say!...be yourself and love yourself- well i try and tell myself that every day! some days it works some days it doesnt ;0)xx

  5. What a terrible advert...I can inmagine how some women might have felt reading it. No tact what so ever! There are too many expections out there for women to have to look or be a certain way. Decades on and it's still the same but done differently.
Are you coming to the Vintage Bazaar in Frome tomorrow?

  7. Cake tins - I wouldn't buy anything from lakeland - what a waste of money - if you have to buy new, look in argos or matalan, or tesco - I bought mine from a jumble sale and our charity shops always have kitchen stuff - i got everything needed when my daughter set up home

  10. Just to let you know that the large round paper cake cases are £4.50 for 50 at Asda. Those for loaf tins are £3.50 for 30. I don't know if that's any cheaper than Lakeland. Hope this helps with your query about where to get them.
