Lilies Day - 13 and more of my garden

As you see still awaiting for two more buds to open.

My Carnations are still going strong to!

Taken from bottom of garden

This morning our next-door-neighbour knocked on our door just to let us know that someone would be cutting the rest of the leylandii trees down.  Personally I will be glad to see them go but now I'm worried about my Bay.

Take from the top of garden.

The ground is very dry there now because the trees suck all the moisture and nutrients out of the ground. It is lowest part of the garden and we are at the top of the hill so the water flows that way!  We usually take our family photos in this position as it makes a nice backdrop.  My Bay has been there fifteen years it started out as a little herb in a pot with a sell-by it was 10p and it was from Somerfield which no longer exists.  I have never been successful in drying the leaves so I just break them off when I need a Bay Leaf.    It will be interesting to one of its branches as some of Bay leaves can be seen at the top of the leylandii.

We have tackled the Bindweed now we have got to tackle the Welsh Leek, it is like a snowdrift in the front garden and it stinks!

We have two clumps of English Bluebells in the garden.

What colour does Spring mean to you?
To me its Yellow!

I'm very shy really!

I don't know why but I do find it very awkward about showing off the things I have made, although I do show things on my blog I am very shy person really, blogging has helped me to get over some of the shyness though.
The craft shop I work in changed hands today.  But for the last seven and half years Janet has always wanted to do a black and white window.  This is her last window!

The two main pictures the Crinoline Lady and the Romany Caravan were designed and stitched by me!
A new era for me tomorrow..........

Mass Production Christmas Cards!!!!!

I definitely do not call myself an artist!
I have to admit I do give things a go but some things
I do give up on, and I personally think this is going
to have to be one of those things!
Once again out came mums paint box

First of all I roughly drew my picture.
As you see I am not much of a drawer either

Cleaned the picture using the tools on the computer
then put it into a card making programme

Because the printer has taken on a 'life of its own'
and has been doing its own thing for awhile
I printed eight pictures on a page I gave the paper
(Bristol Board - watercolour paper won't go through the printer!)
a light wash in a light green. Put it to one side to dry.
Leave each stage to dry before proceeding to the next

I then filled in the colours - rather like in a painting book
Every sheet was slightly different.
There were eight sheets in all

I then embellished the pictures again each page slightly different

Cut all the cards with a backing card slightly larger.
Layer together using glue or double sided sticky tape
add an insert and send to friends and relatives

I send this card to all my bloggy friends
MERRY CHRISTMAS
and a very
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Watercolour painting III

I call this
"Looking Over Daisies"
I happened to walk in the garden the other day
and saw a lonely Daisy in the grass.
This is how I saw it.
Think I might stick to embroidery!

Watercolour painting II

This is my very first attempt at serious watercolour painting.
I haven't picked up a brush since my childhood well over forty years ago
when I had painting books to paint in!
It is suppose to be 'Red Hot Pokers'
as per the first patch of my crazy quilt!

Watercolour painting..........

I thought I might as well have a go!
My mother was the watercolour painter -
this paintbox belonged to her.
It was given to her when she was six, 15 May, 1939!

Restoration..........

A rather cross lady came into where I worked the other day asking if we knew anybody who crocheted? I said I did and could I help?
Yes she said, someone had had an accident with a candle on a best tablecloth and could I repair
it.

from this to................

......................this

The cotton and colour were difficult to match, and the texture is wrong but it is repaired

I do hope she is happy with it!

Frustrating!

I have been trying to make-up some kits and charts to sell at the craft shop. The computer has decided to be extraordinarily slow, and now its very late and things are beginning to go wrong!
But we will get there - I need them for tomorrow!

Skeins of threads for the kits
