The north wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
and what will the poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm,
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing.

my mum taught me this rhyme when I was a little girl
I love robins. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteI think I learned the rhyme at school.

I know someone taught me that rhyme but can't for the life of me remember who....probably at school like Joy. However whenever I hear it or read it I automatically think of a British winter! We just occasionally see a robin here!
ReplyDeletekeep well
Amanda :-)
I vaguely remember the poem too! The robin in the photo doesn't look like a 'poor thing' more like a 'plump thing'! x

Oh I love your robin but what a sad little poem! Our robin is visiting lots at the moment, he seems very hungry. Xxx
ReplyDeleteMy mum also taught me this rhyme. I remember when I was little my brother had a lovely Ladybird book, the Wise Robin, I read and re-read it dozens of times.
