Week Four - 2018

A busy week

Monday morning early saw my dental appointment.  I had to cancel this appointment a couple of weeks ago because of the flu bug thing.  I wasn't looking forward to it as it was a filling.  But it was done very quickly I have to say.  Then a quick bit of shopping and home.

Tuesday morning we went to the cinema, we saw Dunkirk.  A film that really does keep you on your toes!
I actually wanted to see this film as my paternal grandad was one of those soldiers in 1940.  He must have been on a troop ship, because he swam to the Daffodil which was a flat-bottomed ferry boat.
We go here.  We know the film has "been and gone" but we don't mind waiting, it is much cheaper.  Before we go to the cinema we leave home early to have a 'breakfast special' in Dunelm as part of our going to the cinema.

Wednesday, I had coffee with my friend Ginny.  We often meet up after Christmas to swap presents.  Her birthday also falls at Christmas too.

Thursday, we had a day in pottering about, trying to finish decorating our bedroom which has been ongoing for a while now, well a bit too long,  Cannot wait to put the new curtains up then we are finished  Had a tidy and sort for the weekend to make the house child proof as our year old grand-daughter is coming to play whilst we were listening to the radio.  We have taken to listening to Radio 4 Extra on the i-player.  We listen to vintage comedies like the Navy Lark, Hancock and Round the Horne, and the story, currently Inspector Grant - The Daughter of Time, having finished Agatha Raisin, and Dr Finley.  Sometimes get disappointed when I miss the end of the story because I have forgotten to look how many days are left to listen......

Friday, third grandchild's birthday in three weeks.  Our third grand-daughter Abigail was a year old, and as I keep saying where did that year go.......?  It only seemed like yesterday I posted a photo of her wearing her daddy's cardigan I made thirty-seven years ago.

Saturday - We just pottered and tidied again, did some knitting, sorted some fabrics for a another patchwork

Sunday, we took my dad out to lunch.  The above little-one and her mummy and daddy should have joined us, but they have gone down with yet another bug, so sadly they didn't make it but perhaps next week.

Week Three - 2018

Still have the dregs of the flu the whole country seems to have gone down with, mostly the cough now but I have to say I am now feeling much better than I did, and now my brain is back into gear of sorting and cleaning and crafting.  I love crafting, but I have to put it at the bottom of the list otherwise nothing will get done!

Wednesday our second grand-daughter Scarlett was another year older.  She is four now.  We were hoping to  be able to visit her and her family last weekend but the flu for us had taken hold, so hopefully we'll see them all very soon at the beginning of February.  Yesterday we should have seen eldest son, his wife and our youngest grand-daughter (her cousin) but they have succumbed to the flu too,  so hopefully see them next week.

Week Two 2018

Coughs and Sneezes and all that!

Had to cancel a dental appointment at the beginning of the week, don't like going to the dentist at the best of times, but I would never cancel an appointment, but on this occasion it was necessary. I have spent a week under a blanket watching old black and white films, wish sometimes I could do it every day, but even that has got boring! I wish this flu bug thing would fly away! Sore throat, tickly cough, sneezing, streaming eyes, aching limbs, I have had this over a week now!

Wednesday saw our grandson another year older.  He is seven now.  We were hoping to  be able to visit him and his sisters today.  His little sister will be four next Wednesday, and their cousin will be a year old a week after that. But alas this flu has taken hold, so hopefully we have re-arranged to see them the first weekend of February which will be Liam and his sister's daddy's birthday.

I had a lot of crafting planned to start, so a bit delayed in doing that.  I have been knitting, and on one occasion I was knitting six stitches and unpicking seven!

Week One 2018

First  week of the New Year.
Not much happening, or done, just sorting of junk, charity shop giving, and knitting.

Decorations down and put away on 31st December, to start the new year afresh.

Flowers my friend Jane gave me are still going strong.
These were given me on 22nd December, so two weeks on and still looking pretty.

(above three photos taken 5th January 2018)

 Trees, who doesn't like trees?
I see trees everyday.
The old Oak, the Poplar trees, and the Laburnum in my garden.

Thought I might take a photo of these trees the first week of every month to see how they change.

.............2018.............

Another year, another mystery to what lies ahead of us all, another story to tell...........

This has been my motto for the last few years, and this year I have added a word, a very little word consisting of just two letters

"DO"

DO it now, not tomorrow.
Then the word that follows is DONE because you have done it,
and the first two letters of DONE is DO.

I did FAIL on something last year (here).
Apart from Life getting in the way, I think I failed because I told the world, perhaps I shouldn't have done that!  But as they watch this space........

One thing I haven't failed on was the extra box I added all the council recycling boxes, the large cardboard we use as a charity box.  I have taken lots of things to the charity shop since adding the box.  Read about it here
