Amaryllis Sunday ~ Week 5

And the saga of Slow and Steady and Speedy continues.................

Slow and Steady nurturing another stalk

Speedy growing fast............

.......and Speedy's petals are getting ready to show themselves

Even the two that were bought in from the cold, wind and rain are ready to say hello.  The one on the left is a gift from Christmas 2014, and also flowered last July too, from my lovely friend Jane, as is Slow and Steady is her gift from Christmas 2015.  Slow and Steady has a lot to live up to!  Two flowerings in one year! The one on the right I purchased 2012.

What have you been reading..........?

End of last year I thought to myself I haven't read a proper book in a while, well quite a while in fact.  I borrowed these from my friend and loved each an every one for different reasons.  I have to admit I do go for biographies or autobiographies rather than fiction, but then saying that I am now reading again Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, which I enjoyed in my early teens along with Jeeves and Wooster, so I will probably re-read those too at some point.

This book was quite interesting reading about the girls at the Butlin's holiday camps and how it wasn't a holiday for them although they really enjoyed themselves

This book is so funny.  It brought the little Norman Thewell cartoons to life.  I am not a horse person at all yet I absolutely loved this book.  I recommend it to non-horse lovers too.

This book is about a young girl who became a landgirl who loved the land so much she and her husband farmed after the war too.

Since Christmas I lost five followers, then I have lost another two, and only in the last five minutes lost another two!  What is going on, at this rate I won't have followers left!

Amaryllis Sunday on Monday ~ Week 4

Well as you can see one of them is racing ahead and the other is taking its time

Speedy has shot up, and I need to find a stick for it

Slow and Steady is taking time slowly.  Wish I could take time this slowly, and if you look closely there is another shoot growing.

Remember the two waterlogged ones I rescued from the rains in the garden.  Well I brought them indoors, only in the shed at first, but they were still feeling waterlogged, so I brought them in the house to warm up and now there is a shoot on one of them.  This particular bulb seems to be quite prolific..........  remember last July.

Amaryllis Sunday ~ Week 3..........

One of the Amaryllises seems to be racing ahead, somehow it reminded me of the fable of the Hare and the Tortoise.  Where slow and steady wins the day.  The Amaryllis I purchased is racing ahead, but the one my best friend Jane bought me is slow and steady.

The Tortoise and the Hare

Today we would like to say a BIG Happy Second Birthday to his sister Scarlett

Amaryllis Sunday ~ week 1

*This is also I one thousandth post!*
The thousandth post should be been on 1st January, but I was a bit busy lazy after Christmas and didn't do enough posts to make it until today!

They have changed in colour, they're greener since I took them out of their boxes.

I have two more which I retrieved from the garden.

A bit water-logged from all of the rain.  I carefully tipped the water out and now they are drying out
in the conservatory.  I will see how they go and hopefully bring them indoors too.

Begin Afresh!

Saw this a few years ago on a blog and decided this was for me!

A brand New Year.  A brand new page.  Now this may seem strange.......but I don't actually start my new year on 1st of January, I start mine a couple of days after Christmas!  We don't do the new year thing anymore, so really I have started my new year resolutions which I don't really make just like a good friend of mine.

My friend Jackie wrote a great post on her blog the other day and I will be taking a leaf out of her book to do thing now.  One of the decisions I have made is an extra box!

Our council gave us recycling bins a few years ago, a large black wheelie bin for general rubbish, a brown bin for food waste, and two large square bins for recycling card, paper, plastic milk bottles, aluminium and a few other bits.  To these bins I have decided to add another bin, this will be for giving to the charity shop.  But because the bin is clear I think will have to bag things in carrier bags otherwise I may decide to retrieve bits to begin with but I'm sure as days go on the retrieving will stop and I will be able to just put things in the charity bin happily ready to take into town when full.

I don't make lists, if I do I find I don't finish what is on the list then feel very despondent.  Then I say I don't make a list, I make a shopping list - always, and  I make a list if I need to take certain things to people I make sure I have everything that goes with the main item, like when I went to dad's for Christmas I listed, meat, potatoes vegetables and the little things that get forgotten like cranberry sauce and the suchlike.

I wonder what 2016 will bring.....................?
Like I always say we will have to wait and see, but I really don't want is the year to go too fast otherwise I will be asking for it to pause awhile.......

ALSO I would like to welcome my new follower for the New Year
