Weeks Eighteen and Nineteen - part one

Week Eighteen, started by us going to see "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" on Tuesday 2nd May.  Wonderful film - well I thought so anyway.  We wait for a particular film after everyone has seen it and go to the Odeon Cinema on Tuesday mornings.  Its called Silver Cinema, makes going to the cinema a wee bit cheaper.

On the Thursday we travelled to London on the train to stay with our middle son Robert and his wife Anneka.  We travelled from Taunton to Paddington Station.

It was a bit scary when we arrived at Paddington as there were two armed policemen waiting at the end of the platform.  We found where we were supposed to be going and travelled on the Underground.  I actually haven't travelled on the Underground since 1974!  It was very busy even at lunchtime.  Two changes on the Underground to get to get to where we wanted to be.

We needed to get from Paddington to Hampton Court.  Things have certainly changed since I last travelled on the Underground.  I had to keep using my credit card as contactless something I really don't like doing but had no choice in the matter.

After leaving home at 9 am by taxi we arrived at our destination at about 2.30 in the afternoon tired, not use to all this travelling.........

Our "adventure" started Friday.  Robert and Anneka were working when we arrived and we had Friday on our own too.  They live equal distant between Thames Ditton and Hampton Court stations.  We walked to Thames Ditton station, and rode one stop to Hampton Court, quite honestly we didn't want to retrace our steps.  Hampton Court is the end of the line.

The grounds at Hampton Court Palace are free to go into.  We found the cafe for a morning coffee and then just wandered the gardens and went into the souvenir shop just to look.

Not sure what you would call Hampton Court.  Its not a town, its not a village and most of the shops are cafes or antique shops.  There are a few other shops like the patchwork shop, a gallery and a florist, absolutely no grocery shops, well if there was we didn't see one, although there was a corner shop -  come newsagents.  We found a lovely cafe and had some lunch and then wandered back to Robert's and Anneka's.

to be continued.....................
